For the Energizer Runnies

I left this as a comment earlier, but I'm giving it a post of it's own.

I found an idea for the energizer runnies. How about a battery attached to our backs? (it was a kids halloween idea, he-he!) All it takes is an oat meal container and some suspenders. I would be willing to make it. I also have an empty barrel for storing water that I think could be disguised as a battery to go on top of the van. If Cameo is OK with putting something on top of her van. We would have to figure out how to secure it real tight so it won't roll off. I would be willing to make that too, or either one. The drum idea sounds great! Anyone willing to make that? I also thought that we can wear a bunny tail along with the ears. That would be cute. What do the Energizer Runnies think?

I like it! Thanks for thinking about it and doing it. I'd wear the battery thing. We also have an empty water barrel-50 gal-that might be too big. We have a little water cooler-2 1/2 gal- that I could bring if needed.

I can't make anything creative to save my life, but my husband has those bungee cords that keep things strapped into the back of his truck if those would help secure the barrel to the top of the van.

Let me know if they'd be useful.

I love it! I'm trying to figure out how to make ears for all of us. I don't think it would be that hard. So I'm going to work on that tomorrow. What do we think about a tail that's just pinned on? Love the drum idea for pictures, I don't know about running with it. This is gonna be way fun! Do you think we'll think it's that much fun when we're tired, stinky, and sleep deprived? I hope!

Great idea! Check out this link:

There are instructions for making a drum. I'm going to work on it tomorrow. It would be fun for pictures but I don't think I can really run with it;)

I dug into my kids' costume box last night and found four pairs of bunny ears. I'll bring them in case they can be useful. If not... no harm done!

I love the bunnie and battery ideas! I love the huge battery on top but I am concerned of getting from SLC to Logan going 80 mph with that on top of my car?! We won't have room for it inside either. We will have 6 people riding up. Does anyone have blow up swimming pool toy that is shaped like that? Some spary paint on a blow up something would work. I will see what I can find today too.

Good idea Cameo.... something inflatable would work a lot better. I'm going to go to Zurchers today and look around.

I love the idea of the bunny ears, bunny tails, and drums but it sounds like you guys have that covered. What can I do to help? Does anyone have any paint for the car windows? I can try to find some today. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

ok. so I won't use the water barrel to make the battery. I will make the smaller battery to wear on our back. if we decide we don't want to wear it that's ok. i'll bring it just in case.

Melanie: Are you taking care of the tail? I had thought of a pin on as well.

Sarai said...

Team Hillman: Sorry I don't know your name, I will soon though. Yes, you should bring the paint for the car windows.

Everything else is covered right?

Jen: Bunny ears and tail?
Angie: More bunny ears
Mel: Drum. Will try to find inflatable battery to go on top of the van.
Cameo: Will try to find inflatable battery.
Sarai: Battery to wear on our back. I will make two.

For the battery. What about those blown up punching thingies? You know the ones that bounce back at you! that would be perfect! Just a thought.

I can buy a big bag of batting and bring some duct tape and safety pins for attaching it. (Not exactly sure how to go about it). If I get creative, maybe I can make it better than that.

So are bunny ears for the whole team taken care of? Just to be clear.

We should paint the Energizer logo on the side windows. I'll print it out. Too bad no one has access to a vinyl lettering machine. That would be COOL!

Do we want a poster for the picture? Is anyone an artist? I googled Energizer logo and it came up with a cute picture of the bunny. Oh, and for the drum, you might want to print out the Energizer logo and stick it across the drum.

The Energizer bunny has sunglasses, at least in the pics I am looking at, so we could wear our sunglasses for the photo too.

Sorry to keep commenting. The more I read, the more I like our team name. I just wish I'd gotten on the creativity wagon sooner! :) Check out this link regarding our friend the Energizer Bunny--

We should definitely write his (our) mantra, KEEP GOING, on the back of the suburbans, maybe with a drum?

I got all the stuff to make some bunny ears, will work on that tonight. I checked around to buy some but couldn't find any. I even checked Zurcher's Mel! I'll make enough for all of us so that's covered. I'm playing with an idea for a tail with some yarn. I'll let you know if that works or if we should just try the batting. Thanks everyone- this is gonna be great!

I've got window paints in black, brown and red....

still working on the drum.

I've got the tail thing figured out. How about those loofa scrubby things you use in the shower. I will see if they have a couple white ones at Walmart. We could just pin them on.

Polliwog said...

ok, i'll wait on the batting until I hear more. do we want tails for everyone, though?

Mel said...

I have two white loofa's. I wasn't sure if we were all wearing them or not. I can pick up more or we can all bring our own or do we not need 12 of them???

Polliwog said...

How much are they? If they're like a dollar or two, we could probably all just buy one. I could still do the batting thing too. I think if we all have ears, it would be nice to all have tails. :)

Did anyone have luck with something for the top of the car? Some mega bunny ears and sunglasses on the windshield of the suburban would be good, just don't know how to make big ears stand up and be cute. Next idea? My walmart didn't have much in the inflatalbe department. Think Think Think....

Sarai said...

I got one battery made, still working on the second one. I'm only making two because I figured we'd only need one at a time and one extra one for the next runner to be ready. So I don't think we need to have 12 tails, that's just my take. The ears and glasses would be nice for pictures.

Jen said...

Ears are all made! They're not perfect but hey, they're ears! Whew, maybe now I should start packing!

Polliwog said...

Nice, Jen! Thanks!

Hey - got a plan for the car- polliwog will you use your batt to make a huge bunnie tail for rear- I have 2 pink swim noodles, bent into ears we can either put on the luggage rack on top or attach by the wipers or the grill - i'm just not sure how, but where theres a will there is a way! I will cut some craft foam to make a nose and put it on the grill and I'm thinking wiskers maybe cut a swim noodle length wise into quarters and tie them together. Do you see it?

Mel said...

Ha, I love it! I bought two pink swim noodles yesterday with the same thoughts but couldn't figure out how to do it:) I love the nose and tail idea too!

Polliwog said...

That's a great idea--but I haven't bought the batting. It sounded like we didn't need it. I have to pick Amy P up at the airport and then we have a date with old friends and then the party...I am not sure when I can fit another trip to the store in! I will try to find a Walmart between here and Logan and maybe we can stop on the way up tomorrow. I'll get it somehow! :) If anybody has a bag lying around, comment before tomorrow morning.

Emily,

There's a Wal-Mart in Brigham City after you exit from I-15 and before you head up the canyon to Logan. Maybe you could snag some batting there.

I have a HUGE bag of batting. I'll bring it with me and we can figure out how to make it work there? What a great idea! I'm loving it!
