Van decorations, costumes, the important stuff.

Do we want to wear costumes and decorate the vans? We probably won't be going all out like these people did but we should do something simple at least. I've never done this before. What is everyone thinking? What do the veterans recomend?

Check this out for some insight if you are as clueless as I am.

YES! Costumes and decorations make the whole experience that much more fun!! I was in a van that didn't decorate (I was a last minute addition) and it was a bummer! So let's get creative.

Okay...here's some brainstorming.

Energizer Runnies, you've got it easy -- bunny ears and you're set! : )

Mommies Got Back... I just had the idea of using Rosie the Riveter. You know.... "We can do it!" Girl Power type of a thing. Here is
the visual if you don't know what I mean...

If everyone has a dark tshirt (navy blue would be best) we could get red polka dot material and make the hair scarf (like in the picture) and we'd be set for a really cute picture. Not that we'd RUN wearing that, but still.

My only other idea for "mommies got back" is that we stuff our running shorts so we have big booties! Ha!

Van 1, remember we've got the wonder woman costume, so we're all set! ha!

Get the creative juices flowing....

or we can stick with the wonder woman theme and make everyone wonder woman head bands and arm bands?

just thinking outloud here...

: )

I should have thought of this all last week before I left home (where I have a pair of bunny ears and two inflatable bunnies! Grrr)

Does anyone have the paints that write on the car? When are we decorating? In Logan? Does anyone have bunny ears they can bring? This decorating all seems pretty overwhelming with just a couple of days left, but I read the linked article, and I certainly don't want to appear to be the obvious newbie team. :) What to do?

Or I should have asked if anyone knows where we can get bunny ears this time of year? I don't mind purchasing them, but it seems they may be elusive.

I think decorating the car is a must! I've heard that lights (like Christmas ones) are great on the cars for those of us running in the dark. Any ideas how we could get those plugged in and working?

I think the Energizer Runnies need a big drum like the Energizer Bunny. That with your bunny ears and running clothes would be a hit!

Mommies Got Back should have stuffed rear ends (like REALLY stuffed) with a doll in a front carrier. That would be funny. Not that I have 12 of these things to pass out, but it would be funny. :0)

I too thought of the drum idea. It would be cool to have one tied to the front or top of the suburban. I wonder if we could make something like that. Also, I wondered about making a gigantic battery for the top of the vehicle.

Cameo... maybe you don't want to do that to your suburban?

I will look for bunny ears I might have some in the easter stuff. I also bought car paints just for the run. I can't make the Thursday party but for sure the morning shindig. I am all over doing something fun, even stuffing our rears it won't take much for me! Ha see ya then

costumes were a lot of fun in texas. i made tutus for everyone and we wore them for a leg, and of course, pictures. sadly, no time for this go round. but, there were other teams of moms that did sashes and wore crowns. that was fun. i love the wonder woman, and am willing to fork in some bucks if anyone knows where we can buy another? no sewing skills, no time, just an amex...

I just found this blog after you linked to mine. I'm so jealous of all of you doing this run! I'm 3 weeks from having a baby and want to run SO badly! ;) It sounds like you guys have some fun ideas, and I hope you post all the pictures and tales of your adventure here for me to read. I was not a big fan of costumes and decorating at first, but we also threw it together at the last minute and I'm so glad we did. It made us look more like a team. Make sure you take lots of pictures and videos too for the contest that Ragnar does. You could win free entry for next year! Good luck and have fun!

Here's a link to our group video if you wanted to see it...

Mommies got back girls, I'm gonna make a poster/banner (very simple) that says our team name that we can hold for pictures and at the start line.

And yes, I think stuffing our booty for a picture is a winner for our team. : )

I foun an idea for the energizer runnies. How about a battery attached to our backs (it was a kids halloween idea, he-he!) Al it takes is an oat meal container and some suspenders. I would be willing to make it. And the drum idea sounds great. Anyone willing to make it? I also have a big barrel for storing water that I think could be disguise as a battery to go on top of the van. I would be willing to make that too, or either one. What do you Energizer Runnies think?

I'm trying to figure out a way to make matching bunny ears that would stand up and not look too floppy. What about felt or foamy that we could just safety pin to a visor? Do people have visors? Also, maybe I'll buy a big thing of batting for bunny tails? Not sure how to attach them or if that is the best way to do it--any tips?

Or should we stick to just the battery backpacks? I'd be willing to make one of those. Do you have a link, Sarai? But I think the matching ears and tails and a few battery packs would be pretty cute. Maybe even some fluff on our shoes for the photo?

Is anyone on the Energizer team up for making the poster for photos?

Mommies Got Back gals~ someone earlier said we should have "stuffed backs" and have a baby in a carrier in front. I have a cute doll carrier (toy from Pottery Barn Kids) that I'll bring, with a little baby doll in it. We can wear it while running if we want, or at least for the pictures. I'll see if I can pick up another one while I'm at work today also. ~Em

I'll bring a visor for my ears!! Hey a big fluffy bunny tail can work pinned on a bib belt, or elastic belt, or fuel belt or what ever! Very cute.

Sorry, I had not seen your last post polliwog. I got the batteries covered, but I think you already know that.
